Post any boating safety events on the National Safe Boating Council's web site

All of the ICS courses are available (except ICS 210) at the following site:

                        http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/IS/crslist.asp

Upon completion of each class you should receive an e-mail stating that you passed. FEMA will not mail a certificate of completion but will provide a link to download a Adobe .pdf file.  Save this e-mail as your proof of completion. Forward the e-mail to the FSO-IS or fax the certificate. The fax phone number is in the current roster.

About two weeks later, verify the data entry in AUXDATA by going to                 http://www.uscg.mil/d13/oax/d13auxinfo/ or request a Unit Training Report from the FSO-IS.

Notice will be sent when ICS210 is available.

Please use the Auxiliary’s email Activity Report Forms; especially the most commonly used 7029 Member Activity Log and 7030 Activity Report - Mission . It is easy, fast, and a great way to keep up and get credit for your hours.

Suggestions:

  • $econd preferred method i$ $nail mail. Fax i$ the third option. Hint, hint, email is more co$t and time efficient. ($ = s, s = save money, paper, and time. :))))))))))))

  • Bookmark http://forms.cgaux.org/email.htm or download the form(s) and keep a blank copy on your computer by going to http://forms.cgaux.org/email.html . After an activity fill out the form and email it to mailto:dwest1604@earthlink.net. I will enter it or have it entered into AUXDATA immediately. The FSO-IS is approved to enter most but not all of the AUXDATA entries. Some entries are reserved for the SO-IS or DIRAUX.
  • Advantages:

  • You do not have to keep up with a hard copy of the form floating around for weeks before mailing or faxing it.
  • It is easier to report the activity while it is fresh in your mind.
  • You avoid getting behind with logging your activity hours. I am guilty!
  • You avoid not reporting you activity hours. I am guilty!
  • You are following through with what DIRAUX has been emphatically emphasizing for years, reporting activity hours.
  • Disadvantages:

    •  By not reporting activity hours, the Auxiliary receives less money from the Coast Guard.

If you have any questions or concerns, ask. Follow the lead of one of Flotilla 19’s most knowledgeable and experienced members Lou Herrick who frequently takes advantage of the conveniences of email Activity Report Forms.

Posted on http://forms.cgaux.org/email.html are the following requirements:

EMAIL FORMS has our newest feature. You must have Acrobat 5 "Approval" or above to use these. NOTE: As these are test forms, expect frequent updating and revision of the features included, as well as additions to the forms offered. Changes to these forms will not be reflected on the FORMS NEWS page due to the rapid pace of updates. No forms will be available here that are not also available for download on the FORMS page. Also, be sure to note the caution information.

    ADDED 3-11-2004: MAC OS-X Users

Submitting from within the browser is not possible with OS-X. However, Adobe Reader 6 has the capability to submit outside of the browser. So, if you have OS-X and want to submit reports, download a copy of the form from this site to your computer and open Reader. Submit should then work.

These forms are identical in content to our normal forms, with the exception that they allow on-line submission to whomever you like. The software requirements for these forms to work properly are Acrobat Reader 5 and above. Your browser must support Reader opening as a helper application while on-line; we cannot test with every browser currently in the field. Adobe is aware of an incompatibility with Netscape Navigator 6, which does not allow the forms submission feature to work, so NN6 cannot be used at present. MSIE does not appear to have any problem with the current version.

In order to use these forms, you must *left* click on the form number (do NOT *right* click as you normally do to download a form!) and be patient, as the form itself must be copied into the browser and Reader has to start. You may experience a white screen for a period of time- that's normal. When you have finished filling out the form, you can print a copy of the completed form by using the printer icon in the Reader window or the print button at the bottom of the form. Once you click on the "Submit" button, the data will be sent to the address you've specified and an acknowledgement screen will appear confirming what was sent. NOTE: If nothing happens when you click "SUBMIT" or your SO doesn't receive your data, see the FAQ page.

You may send multiple addressees your reports; simply add a comma , between addresses. For example, to send to aux1@cgaux.org and coasty@isp.com, enter "aux1@cgaux.org,coasty@isp.com" (without the quotation marks).

If you have difficulties, please report them using the Request for Technical Assistance form. HAVE FUN!
